MESSAGE RELAY:

Pass The Message Game Sentences Tagalog

Divide children into two teams. At the start with GO, the first team player will run to the teacher and get a message and run back to the team and read the message out loud and then the next player will do the same until all the children have run to the teacher for a message! After the RELAY is completed, have children tape the message to a MESSAGE BOARD in the classroom. The teacher can write such messages as GOD LOVES YOU, JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS, JESUS IS COMING AGAIN, JESUS CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH, and other Bible verses and lessons for the children to have reinforced to them.

The Secret Message (also known as the Phrase Game) This is for word nerds like Sarah. Write a different sentence on pieces of paper you slip under each person’s plate. Try for phrases that sound odd in adult conversation, such as “I want a pony” or “I find kittens terrifying.”. Telephone game sentences are the beginning phrases used in a game of Telephone, also called Chinese Whispers, the Broken Telephone Game, the Gossip Game or the Grapevine Game. Any sentence can be used to start a game of Telephone, but some sentences have a funnier outcome than others.

  1. In the game, a message is given to the first person in a line of people and then they are instructed to pass the message on by whispering it in the ear of the next person in line. The message goes from person to person until it reaches the end of the line, and that person announces the message to the group.
  2. Instructions: You have one person start the games while your group stands front to back in a line. The designated first person will show the next in line how to perform the same activity that the previous person did. From there people will perform what they remembered from the previous person.

MESSAGE CIRCLE:

Let children sit in a circle and secretly pass a MESSAGE around the circle. (The children will sometimes PRETEND to be passing the 'message' and other times they really WILL put the small slip of paper with the 'message' in the next child's hand. The ONE in the middle can try and decide WHO has the important MESSAGE. IF the one in the middle FINDS the one with the message, then THAT person will be in the middle and continue to play as time allows.

Introduction

People who work together are communicating with each other. If they communicate effectively, this will enhance the performance of the group. If communication is poor, the quality of group work will suffer. The importance of a good communication is demonstrated in this “Whispering game” (also called “Message Relay”) by illustrating the breakdown of the communication. The exercise can be used as a starter for sessions on (effective) communication. Clubs will benefit if there is good communication between members.

Objectives

  1. To illustrate the breakdown of communication.
  2. To demonstrate the importance of effective communication.

Duration

  • 30 minutes

Materials

  • None

Methodology

  1. Ask all the participants to form a circle. The facilitator also takes a place in this circle.
  2. The facilitator then whispers a message to one neighboring person.
  3. The message will now be passed round the circle by whispering to the next person and the next, until it reaches the last person at the other end of the circle (just before the facilitator).
  4. Ask the last person to say the sentence aloud.
  5. Ask the first person who received the message from the facilitator if the message is correct.
  6. Ask several persons of the circle in order to trace the changes.
  7. Discuss the activity.

Some guidelines for discussion

  1. What did we learn from this exercise?
  2. Is good and clear communication an important factor in group work?
  3. In real life, what factors could hinder effective communication?
  4. How can we improve effective communication?
  5. How can we improve communication in a FFS or in a club?

Examples of messages that can be used in this exercise

  1. “If you want to get good yield in Boro rice you should use good quality seed at the rate of 40 kg per hectare and urea at 255 kg per hectare in 3 split. But in T.Aman the does of urea will be 175 kg per hectare.”
  2. “The cuckoo lay their eggs in the nest of the crow, but the wasps lay their eggs into the egg mass of the stemborer.”
